Petition for Food on Salem Streets this October

There is a petition to change the street food in Salem this coming October. This is what it says:

“Every October, Salem’s Haunted Happenings brings thousands of people to our city. During this busy time, the city contracts with Fiesta Shows as the exclusive vendor for food booths. The offerings are expensive and low quality “carnival food,” like fried dough and cotton candy. Not only is the food of poor quality and limited options, but the proceeds from these sales aren’t kept in Salem, as Fiesta is based out of New Hampshire. We are asking that the city and the mayor end the practice of contracting out to Fiesta Shows and focus instead on giving priority to local Salem vendors and restaurants. This will give people more, and healthier options during Haunted Happenings, as well as keep any proceeds within the city, where they can help boost the economy.”

What do you think? Check out the petition.

Update on October 3rd schedule

Love Tap will not be there for their noon gig. Music from 1pm to 6pm continues at the Fountain stage tomorrow. See you at the stage on Essex during the Salem Chamber of Commerce’s Haunted Biz Baz. Weather will be drizzly in the morning, a bit windy in the afternoon, but like every October in Salem, fun to had, and lots o’ people from all over the world will be there.
